The Best Kitchen Space Saver – Pot Racks

In most Kitchens the need for more storage and as well as quick access can be a real challenge. Cookware, Appliances, Cook’s Tools and Cook Books need a storage location but also need to be easily accessible when we are ready prepare that great meal or entertain our guests. A quality Pot Rack is a great way to accomplish this challenge. It will allow the maximum use of your kitchen space while allowing work with a minimum of required movement between the different prep areas in your kitchen. Pot Racks come in a wide range of sizes, styles and finishes. They can be easily hung from the ceiling, wall and are available as a free standing floor rack. Depending on your decorative style Pot Racks can be modern and minimalistic or ornate with exquisite detailing.  The better racks like Enclume offer an old-world craftsmanship, hand wrought by skilled craftsmen on traditional French metal forming equipment. A quality rack can not only help better organize your kitchen but like furniture can enhance the look and feel to a room that you spend soo much time in.

Now, how do I select the right Potrack for enhancing the Space in your kitchen?  Well, you need to know the following measurements: A) the height of your ceiling; and B) the height of the person using the rack and what a comfortable reach is for them. As an example, if your ceiling is  9 ft. high, reach your arm into the air as if you were reaching for the bottom of a pot or pan and get that measurement. As an example if you are 5’6″ tall, you would want the bottom of your pan to be about 6 foot. You only need to reach the bottom of the pan to lift it off the hook. Most racks are generally designed for a 9 foot ceiling. If your ceiling is lower than this, look at a low-ceiling rack. They measure only 8.5” high. Many Potracks come with a with chain system for hanging. The advantage with chain mounting is it is flexible; if you are off in your measurement, you can simply take it up a link to make the chain shorter. Chains generally come with your rack but also are generally sold in 1 foot segments and can be cut to meet your specifications. The other option is extension hooks, which come in 5”, 7”, 10” and 15” lengths.

As noted above, there are a number of styles and finishes such as: Ceiling Racks – Wall Racks – Oval Racks – Rectangle Racks – Round Racks and Bookshelf Racks in stainless steel, copper, brass and hammered steel finishes. Finally, if you have a unique space that you are unable to find the right size for or just want a specific size to suit your kitchen, a custom rack can be ordered to suit your home.
